A Blade That Can Cut Through Anything

Diamonds are ultra-tough and strong, and it’s no wonder that they are used for cutting through abrasive materials. Only another diamond can cut through a diamond, and it’s easy to see why they are great for sawing through other hard-to-cut materials and instruments.

Diamond blades are commonly used to cut through materials otherwise impossible to cut. They can cut through stone, concrete, asphalt, bricks, ceramics and all other kinds of hard surfaces. They can equally saw through large and thick cables and other kinds of materials used in the Information Technology industry. Of course, diamond blades are used to cut gemstones. A diamond blade is a saw blade made of diamond teeth and a steel core which is made of powdered diamonds and crystals.

Diamond Blades Are the Strongest Cutting Blades of All

There are various types of Diamond Blades available in the market, and contractors often choose one to fulfil their job tasks.  Circular diamond saw blades are often the most used of the diamond blade varieties. Many circular diamond saw blades are made by putting synthetic diamonds on the outer edge of the saw blade. These diamond saws can cut through the likes of concrete, plastic, steel and many kinds of iron. Fine synthetic diamond grits reduce the chipping of tile, while larger diamond grits will provide a higher cutting speed but can cause cracking.

Next is a diamond gang saw blade, which consists of a long steel plate with diamonds welded on. These are often used by the hundreds to saw raw blocks of stone. They can cut through the thickest surfaces. A diamond band saw blade is composed of diamonds affixed onto a flexible steel band. Only one edge of the band has electroplated diamonds, and also consists of nickel. These blades can be used for very precise cuttings and are often tens of micrometres thin.

The most frequently used diamond blades are sintered metal-bonded diamond blades. The materials to make sintered metal-bonded diamond blades are first heated and then pressed into shape. The diamond teeth are put in place. The steel core’s designs vary, from having spaces known as gullets between them which offer cooling, while others have a continuous rim. The removal of slurry is also important in making this kind of diamond blade.

Contractors and other stakeholders in the cutting industry often choose among three types of metal-bonded blades, depending on what they are cutting. There are better or worse diamond blades depending on the material they will cut. When choosing which diamond blade to buy, make sure you are accompanied by a professional. There are various types to choose from, as you’ll see from the various diamond blade and cutting tool websites out there.

Diamond Blades Are Best Used Wet

Although many Diamond Blades are designed to operate wet or dry, according to experts a diamond blade is best used wet. The wet cutting keeps the blade from overheating. But another factor to consider is that the amount of dust from the material being cut is less than if the blade was dry. Also, cutting wet allows the slurry to be removed from the location of the cut. The blade’s life extends when operated dry because it can withstand elevated temperatures in cutting ceramic. Rapid tool wear and possible failure are lessened.

Electrical saws don’t use wet blades as cutters can inhale dust that causes serious lung diseases. Measures should be taken by allowing the blade to cool off. When the blade spins freely out of the cut, cooling can come easier.
